Are you living authentically? Are you being true to who you really are?
These are not easy questions. Nor is the path to the answers. We are embedded with deep habits of thoughts and actions. Those around us expect us to act in familiar ways, ways that are acceptable to them. We have learned to be comfortable behaving in the same ways again and again regardless of the outcomes or circumstances. But our deepest Self longs to be free. We ask ourselves, “Is this who I really am?”
To free ourselves from our habitual patterns, we must be willing to hear and feel the longing of our soul. Living in freedom is behaving consistently with the core of who we really are — the values that we have consciously chosen and the way we bring them to life. Living in freedom is recognizing our essence, stripped from all the baggage and manipulations of our past.
To be free is to respond consciously from choice no matter what the circumstance. It is being aware of our essence and living it in the present. When we act consistently with the core of who we are, we are being authentic — true to ourself. Living authentically is finding congruence between our inner world of values, beliefs, passions, and our outer world of relationships. To live authentically, to tap into our inner wisdom and assume responsibility for our own life, is the most important decision we can make.
